NME
The title used is bold and white, to match the border and to stand out and contrast against the model/idol’s red hair. The model used is someone iconic in the music industry, associated with this magazine. Gerard Way, as photographed from ‘My Chemical Romance’ is iconic for this issue due to a recent event or discovered news. Subtitles and headings are also in white, same as ‘NME’ to help stand out from the image and background. Some text shown is black, also helping to outstand. Red text is also used to highlight a certain word, in this case ‘MICK ROCK’. Smaller images are used for influence as they represent the free posters included with your purchase. A quote is used at the bottom of the page, this, in most magazines, would be used to highlight a key part in an interview or an iconic phrase. Price and Barcode are located at the top and bottom of the page, also along with the date and issue number. Colours used are quite basic and suggestively don’t go over the limit of the use of five colours.
VIBEThe title used, is bold and blue… stereotypically a colour for boys but in nowaday assumptions the colour blue appeals to both males and females. The model used is someone the target audience will recognise… someone they may idolise or want to read about recent news involving them. Subtitles and headings are also in bold and also given bright, eye catching colours, in this example, yellow, black and blue. Some text shown is white, although it is only used when it is highlighted or shadowed in another colour, or placed on a darker colour background. Red text, again in this example is used to highlight only one certain word, ‘swagger’, also aimed at its target audience. In this case no smaller images have been used… but short catchy slogans and subtitles are used to create attraction instead. With this magazine, no certain quote has been highlighted although the most important text is in the deepest colour, black, and placed by the focal point of the cover. The barcode, issue number and title are all located at the bottom of the page, in a smaller text, as this is not the priority text wise on this cover. The colours used are quite eye catching and basic, not going over the usual, five colour limits.
