This is a feature displayed in ‘Hip Hop Connection’ magazine about the release of the film ‘Kidulthood’. Displayed at the very top of the page, is text shown in red. This is a quick review on what the article is about, so using an eye catching colour would increase the chance of the reader wanting to, at least look at the article. The images used from throughout the pages would appeal to the main audience. Using pictures such as a girl smoking, youths waiting for a train and a few boys in a town, gives their appealing audience something to relate too. Subtitles used in the body text are also displayed in red, just to clarify the subject in which you are reading about. Most of the text in general is displayed on the left hand side of the pages. Apart from small review about the film displayed amongst the film images. The main title ‘BOYS TO MEN’ is in bold and also shown with contrasting colours, the black text stands out on the white background and the white text stands out amongst the pictures in the background. Although the main title isn’t the name of the film itself, it relates to boys in general going through their usual changes, turning from boys to men. At least half of the male target audience for hip-hop connection magazine will look at this article.
WORD
This is a feature article displayed in ‘Word’ magazine. Pictures are mostly used across this feature as the attraction to read the article. Normally pictures would be related to the article, or used to shock you, and attract you more. Bold text is used in amongst the main body of the article to highlight quotes that may be attracting or important in the article. Although there is no real eye catching title, to the start of the article, on the middle left of the feature, there is a brief description of the article contents in a different font separated from the main body. The colours used on pictures and text stays the same pretty much throughout – the only colours used in this case are white, black, green, purple and red
